We are using a 2 pound Dow Blue Foam for the air sealing
Foundation design is cast concrete exterior walls, insulation layer and interior block foundation. The insulation layer is air sealed to the exterior and interior foundations for the main building, root cellar, and garage.
Interior Foundation has epoxy coated rebar every 24 inches that is tied to the thermally broken mat slab foundation and runs up to the top bond beam. The 24 inch on center CMU cells are grouted solid to the bottom of the bond beam
Interior foundation is the forground and root cellar is in background
Structural columns are stepped back as they are brought up to grade for the stone planter foundations, and grouted solid with an epoxy coated rebar in each CMU cell
Sonotubes are minim casinos that sit on undisturbed soil and have an epoxy coated rebar skeleton and filled with a 6 bag mix of concrete which will carry the weight of the stone planters that wrap the walk out second floor porch and act as a shading element for the first floor glazing. Passive Solar Design elements are blended into the Architectural programming of our arts and crafts project. The gray tubes are the conduits that run to the ground boxes that are placed around the project for line and low voltage runs.
