Fiorino Architects Achieves Carbon Neutrality Through New Assignment and Retirement Program For Securitized Carbon Offsets

Chicago, IL, February 17, 2020: Net Zero Analysis & Design Corp. is pleased to announce that Fiorino Architects of Addison, IL is the first architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) firm to achieve carbon neutrality by purchasing offsets through the Assignment and Retirement carbon offsetting program created by NZA and Entrex Carbon Market. The program allows companies or individuals to purchase securitized carbon offsets in any quantity.

“What sets the Entrex program apart from others is its regulatory compliance. Oversight by the SEC and FINRA ensures the offsets are real and properly retired. The Entrex Carbon Market website allows buyers to track where the offsets were generated, who validated and verified them, and which registry was responsible for generation and retirement. It’s these assurances that give us confidence in offsetting the balance of our emissions with Entrex for this year and into the future” said Mike Fiorino, President.

“For years, we’ve known Fiorino Architects to be a leader in thoughtful and energy-efficient design,” commented George Sullivan, CEO of Net Zero Analysis. “We applied our web-based Carbon Footprint Calculator to the firm’s energy-use data, then developed a Carbon Replacement and Energy Efficiency Plan that allowed them to put these ideas in place for every-day operations in their office. What little carbon use couldn’t be eliminated by changes in business practices was offset. Fiorino’s concern with how climate change action impacts the architectural design sector ensures they will continue to lead in the marketplace.”

Stephen Watkins, CEO of Entrex added, “The combination of Net Zero’s international carbon footprint calculator, and the Entrex platform gives climate-concerned companies a user-friendly way to navigate a rigorous carbon-neutrality verification process and to receive assigned and retired regulatory compliant carbon offset securities. Carbon offsetting is an important prong in an organization’s climate action goals, whether that’s to offset 10% or 100% of its carbon footprint. It’s great to have Fiorino Architects on board as one of the Entrex Carbon Market Members.”
